You don’t need to leave your house to enjoy a luxe spa experience. Here are 10 at-home hacks that will have you feeling absolutely pampered in the privacy of your own bathroom.
- Make a Scrub With Kitchen Ingredients
Take a peek in your fridge and cabinets. If you see any of the following ingredients–yogurt, strawberries, honey, avocados, sugar, rosemary, or eggs–you’re totally in luck. You can whip any of these products into a mask or scrub. For example, check out this easy recipe from the Ritz-Carlton Spa at Dove Mountain.
You’ll need the following:
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup sweetened almond oil (you can use coconut oil instead if you have that on hand)
1 tsp vitamin E
1 tsp vanilla extract
Combine the oil, extract, and vitamin E into a bowl and then fold in the sugar. Store it in a mason jar or other container with a lid. And remember that vanilla can also be substituted for your favorite fragrance oil (we’re partial to lavender.) This is perfect for a steamy shower!
- Take an Infused Steam Bath
Take an infuser, the kind you use for making tea, and hang it from your bathtub faucet. Fill it with tea, oatmeal, rose petals, you name it!
- Make Your Own Bath Salts
Take epsom salts and mix them in a bowl with lavender petals, lavender oil, and a bit of honey! Put a teaspoon or two in your bath and soak sore muscles.
- Make Your Own Eye Pack
Take some silk fabric, fill it with sand and lavender flowers, and sew it up. Stick it in the freezer and take it out when your eyes need a break.
- Deep Condition Organically
Take a whole avocado, remove the pit, and smash it in a bowl. Smear it on your scalp allow it to sit for thirty minutes.
- Soften Your Hands and Feet Overnight
Take lotion and apply it to your hands and feet. Put on gloves and socks and wear them to bed. Wake up with silky smooth extremities. Your skin is your body’s biggest organ. Take care of it naturally!
- Make Homemade Rosewater Spray
This is an easy way to make your own toner. Take rose petals and let them steep in hot water until cool. Remove the petals and put the water in a spray bottle.
- Make An Egg White Mask
Take a whole egg (preferable organic) and remove the yolk. Whip it up in a bowl and use a sponge or fingers to apply it to your face. Let it sit until taught or roughly 10 minutes. Remove for rejuvenated, tighter skin.
- DIY eye cream
Make your own hydrating eye cream by combining coconut oil and vitamin e capsules. Keep it in an old lip balm tin and apply it before bed for reduced wrinkles.
- Make Homemade Lip Exfoliator
Combine sugar, honey, and jojoba oil and apply it all over your lips. Let it sit for 10 minutes, slough off the dead skin, and enjoy a plump, soft pucker.
