Girls’ night out is an essential part of every woman’s social life. This night may consist of hanging with girlfriends, getting drinks and going dancing. However, it is important for women to know how to stay safe when they go out for the evening. Especially with all the dangers that could arise from clubbing, it is best for women to know how to keep themselves safe while still having a good time. Here are a few tips on how you can keep yourself safe when going to a club or bar:
Tip #1: Don’t Go to a Club Alone
Not only is this less fun, you might also put yourself at risk for danger. Always try and go with a group of friends in case you find yourself in an awkward or uncomfortable situation. When going out, the more the merrier is the safest motto to enact.
Tip #2: Go Out with Your Girl Friends
The term ‘safety in numbers’ best applies to women when they go to clubs or bars. Also, there is a big possibility that you will have much more fun going out with a bunch of your girlfriends.
Tip #3: Don’t Wander Off
Especially if you are speaking with a stranger, make sure your friends know where you are. Not everyone has bad intentions, but it is best to be cautious when you go to a place such as a club or bar.
Tip #4: Have at Least One Sober Friend
Make sure you will have at least one friend who won’t be too drunk to drive everyone else home or see to everyone getting home safely. Sometimes our decision-making skills are hazy if we’ve had too much to drink. It is important to have a friend who has a clear head and is able to keep track of everyone in the group. Your friend group can switch off who this person will be each time you go out.
Tip #5: Leave with Who You Came With
Among girlfriends, there is an unspoken rule about leaving a club with who you came with. Unless you discuss leaving with someone else and your friends think that it won’t be a bad or dangerous situation, it is always best to leave with your friends.
Tip #6: Accepting Drinks from Strangers
Getting a stranger to buy drinks for you and your friends may be flattering but this should be avoided. Unless you see the drink being made, and the drink goes directly from the hand of the bartender or waitress to your hand, don’t accept the drink.
Tip #7: Do Not Leave Your Drink Unattended
Other than not accepting a drink from a stranger, you should also avoid leaving your drink unattended. Even if you just set down your glass for a few minutes, you could risk someone taking advantage and touching your drink. If ever you leave your drink unattended for even a few minutes, make sure to get another one instead of finishing it.
Tip #8: Keep an Eye on Your Belongings
While this is a no-brainer, it is surprising how many people leave purses and wallets unattended at bars or clubs. Wherever you are, you need to remember that there are people who are just waiting for the right opportunity to get your things. If you leave your bag unattended, you might be the next victim of theft. Whether you’re in a bar or a more public place, you should always keep an eye on your belongings so someone won’t take them either by mistake or intentionally.
Tip #9: Know Your Limits
Despite all these tips, you have to remember to know when you’ve had too much. Even if you have plenty of friends with you on your night out, you have to know how to look out for yourself.
Girls’ night out can be fun. But if something were to happen, the fun part would be over. Make sure you follow these tips so you can keep yourself safe whenever you go out with your friends to a club or bar.
