IGNOU or Indira Gandhi National Open University is a renowned name in the education industry and is the most renowned and preferred university for distance learning. This university has its centers all round India and offers placement to the candidates who area worth it. However, the placement of the candidates was troublesome due to a single placement cell placed at Delhi. The university authorities have now decided to open a new placement cell at Bhubaneswar.
The regional director, S K Tripathy of the Bhubaneswar center announced this news during the occasion of 28th foundation day celebrated in the center. He said that the students had to register with the central placement center in Delhi for getting placed but the local placement cell will make it easier for them to seek placement in the top ranking companies.
The Bhubaneswar center is also introducing a new course for the students. The PG diploma in urban planning and development is mainly introduced here so as to fulfill the requirement for manpower in construction sector. The students can have a bright career in the construction sector as the demand for trained manpower is in great demand. The placement cell which is going to be opened here can help them to a great deal in getting a respectable job in real estate, building and road works.
Apart from the main placement cell in Bhubaneswar, sub-centers is also opened at Phulbani to offer several vocational courses for five districts Sonepur, Balangir, Boudh, Kandhamal and Gajapati. The vocational courses that can be undertaken by the individuals include mushroom cultivation, bee-keeping, motorcycle repairing, weaving, beautician etc. These courses will be started in January 2014, added the regional director.
There are 101 study centers of IGNOU in Bhubaneswar with a total of 22,000 students enrolled in both professional and certificate courses. The Deputy Director, S Mohanty stated that, “we also offer certificate courses in human trafficking which can allow the students to make a career in prison and police officers. Courses in disaster management are also carried out in association with National Disaster Management Authority here so as to train the government officers in this regard.
With the introduction of so many courses and new placement cell in the Bhubaneswar center, the students will really get benefitted to a great deal. The dream of seeking the desired course and getting placed soon after the completion of the course will now be fulfilled easily.
