Mitt Romney, the former Republican presidential candidate, has gone on record against Obamacare many times in the past, but it seems that after the snags that the healthcare reform has hit recently, he is coming out again to say ‘I told you so.’ In fact, he is claiming that President Barack Obama lied to voters when he told them that they would be able to keep their current health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. That has not been the case every time with the new health insurance laws, and it is not only Mitt Romney that is jumping on the “Obamacare Has Failed” bandwagon.
Mitt Romney also talked about the problems that people had been having with the website where people can go to see what they need to do or are able to do with Obamacare. Healthcare.gov has been having technical problems since it began, very likely the result of so many visitors. Even though the government should have anticipated the amount of visitors that they got, the site simply would not work the way it was supposed to. This has been a major issue for many people who are trying to get insurance or find out information using the official site. Romney said that the promise was “not accurate.” “[Obama’s promise] was not honest, and the whole foundation of his second term, I think, is in jeopardy as a result of that,” he told the CBS morning show.
In fact, Mitt Romney even went as far as to hint that the President had misled the American public on purpose. “[Obama] “understood that a lot of people would lose their insurance.” Romney said. He went back to a tenant of his campaign saying that Obamacare was flawed from the start and doomed to not work. His words were “What starts twisted stays twisted.” One thing that will be a relief to many – including very likely some on the GOP side – is that Romney is not currently planning on running for president again.
